What we do
Art Lingual is a theatre and communication company that offers several strands of products and services aimed towards helping refugees. All the proceeds of our products go towards offering a wider range of ESL and Drama Workshops for refugees and international students.
'The Dirty Word'Art Lingual is excited to announce our new Verbatim Theatre piece, The Dirty Word. After a successful scratch in January as part of the First Slice at Theatre Deli, we will be doing another work-in-progress version at Camden People's Theatre as part of their No Direction Home festival: a theatre festival about migration, displacement and refuge. Get your tickets
here. Inspired by the political upheaval of Brexit, 'The Dirty Word' answers the question: How does the Brexit vote continue to effect immigrants of all different categories, from immigrants with visas to asylum seekers? And why is 'immigrant' a dirty word? CALL OUT: Want to be interviewed for this piece? We're still in development! Click on the button below to fill out our short Google form. |
How to Make a Home WorkshopThrough games and storytelling, this performative workshop leads its participants through an interactive exploration, step by step, of how we create homes for ourselves, what happens when we move homes and what we need to make a house a home. These explorations will take participants on a journey, and when crisis hits, will force the community to negotiate how the story will end. This workshop seeks to engage and immerse participants in questions about home, identity, and loss.
This workshop premiered on 30 July 2017 at Takeover Festival at Rich Mix London. For more details visit: https://goo.gl/oeD3Ad,and again in June 2018 as part of Migration Matters Festival in Sheffield. |
